Teacher Appreciation Week!

I want to thank everyone for being so thoughtful and generous this week for Teacher Appreciation! It really touches my heart all the outpouring of appreciation and at this time of year it goes A LONG WAY! 168 days, 25 kids, and square room can take its toll on an old man! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

From the Press Box: CRCT Success!

Team Rollins had 100% attendance for the five day testing extravaganza! Thank you to all parents and students for dedicating to being at school and on time! That was awesome!

Also, I get the impression from students that CRCT was HIGHLY successful! Scores will come out after school is out so I want to take this opportunity to CONGRATULATE everyone for a successful testing season. I am very proud of each student for their hard work and dedication this year. We've worked VERY HARD and everyone deserves a big pat on the back and hug! GOOD JOB TEAM ROLLINS!

Congratulations Zane Williamson! He has earned the May Character Award for Accomplishment. Zane has dedicated to becoming an independent learner and shown great improvement in organization, work completion, and self-motivation. Team Rollins is EXTREMELY proud of our great teammate!

From the Bleachers: Relay for Life

Congratulations Team Rollins: 2009 Relay for Life Sticker Champions!

Team Rollins generated 13 sticker sheets, 4 more than any other class, raising $130, 10% of the school fundraiser amount. For their efforts they receive satisfaction for helping others, plus they will a third base line Tent and Pizza party at the Kincaid's Annual Kickball game. Good job Team Rollins.......you really have shown,all year long, Kincaid what TEAMWORK is all about!

Summer Adoption Program: Pets

It's time to find homes for our fun loving class pets. Students were recently given Applications and I am looking for a couple good homes for the summer.

Curriculum

We are winding down the school year and closing up shop, but before we do we have one more IMI and one more Post Writing Prompt: Persuasion. Students have been learning the Art of Persuasion on Team Rollins and we will be writing some final papers before the prompt. I apologize in advance if you are targeted for a cell phone, but I have to get them interested in writing dont I????

Spring Break Approaches

Spring Break is fastly approaching and Team Rollins continues to work hard! The Team has settled into working very well together. Hard work does pay off!

Congratulations to Orlando Ceron for receiving the March Character Award for Commmittment. Orlando attends school each and every day on time and prepared for success. He maintains a positive attitude that everyone respects and looks to as an example. We are very proud of Orlando and fortunate he is on Team Rollins!

"Music Man" has been a great hit! Team Rollins has several students involved who have worked very hard. We know they are gaining valuable experience this year and I look forward to seeing some of them in leading roles next year! We are very proud of all of them!

With Spring Break approaching, it's time for Hawkeye and the Toads to have a hospitable home. Look for a flyer with the kids who feel they will be home for Spring Break. Also, I'm letting students take Hawkeye home for the weekends. They need to discuss it with you and submit a request to me with your signature and contact number.

Final Lap: Curriculum

Math: Mutliplication and Division of Decimals by Whole Numbers. Students that are having difficulty with this unit typically STILL lack automatic recall and fluency skills in basic multiplication. If your student is not demonstrating these skills, they need to be practicing flashcards at home.

Science: Earth, Moon, and Solar System.

Social Studies: Completed "Creating a Nation" Next up: "Westward Expansion"

Writing: Persuasive Writing. We just started this and have been identifying the ART of PERSUASION before we get into the writing aspect. Expect your child to gain appropriate persuasion skills in both verbal and written expression. This will be great skills for them, but do not worry, you have a few years before they start hitting you up for that Mustang GT Convertible!

Reading: Students continue to strive toward 25 books for the schoolyear. We are also in the third week of a Guided Reading class novel study on "Boy in the Girls Bathroom" As you know, this is a book that supports our year long effort on the "Steps to Respect" program. The kids absolutely love this book and are gaining valuable knowledge that will help them in daily social life.

SPRING BREAK: Everyone have a wonderful break! If you are traveling, be safe and return refreshed. I know this time of year can be stressful and with CRCT coming up, we need to keep the students rested, relaxed, and ready!
