Sunshine Math

Our class had 100% participation in Sunshine math. Each student received ice cream at lunch, a coupon for the school store and the class will be rewarded with a popcorn party. Thank you for encouraging your children. Thank you to the Herkerts for faithfully grading the worksheets and keeping up with student participation each week.

Thank you so much for a wonderful "Teacher Appreciation Week". Each day was filled with surprises and good wishes. A big thank you goes to the moms who gave their time during our luncheon.

Only 4 more weeks left in school. We have many exciting activities ahead so I will keep you posted through our blog and notes in your child's purple folder.  This week we have our field trip to Fernbank on Friday. Please have your child dress in the purple class t shirt.

During the week of May 4th, we will read Flat Stanley books and have a "flat" party - more information will come. The Relay for Life kickball game is May 7th. Please have your child wear his/her purple t shirt.

Field Day this year is on May 12th. Once again, your child needs to be dressed in the class t shirt. Our annual Author's picnic is May14th. I will need 4-5 parents to help with the groups. The students will read a story that they have written this year and enjoy cookies and juice boxes. This is an early morning activity so you can help out before going to work. If you are unable to attend, please consider sending in cookies or juice.

Don't forget to use Skills tutor throughout the rest of the school year especially on nights when I do not send homework.

CRCT

Testing time is here!  Your children have worked hard all year to learn the material that will be tested. Now I need your help to make these days as pleasant as possible for your children.

·        Please help your child get a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast.

·        Make sure your child arrives in the classroom by 7:50 so he/she will not feel rushed. (Students arriving late will not be allowed in the classroom until after the test is completed for the day.)

·        Do not send mechanical pencils.

·        Allow your child to have a water bottle to be used during the test.

·        Be sure your child has a nutritional snack each day of testing.

·        Encourage your child to listen and do his/her best.

Thank you for your support during testing.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Spring Break.  Only 6 days until the CRCT!  Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep and a nutritious breakfast and snack for each day of our tests.   If you would like to write a "good luck" letter for your child, send it in and I will put it on his/her desk the first morning of testing.

We have completed our anthology and we are going to complete the year reading chapter books.  Because we will be reading chapter books in class, I will not require AR tests from now until the end of school. If the chapter books are AR, your child may take a test to gain points but it is not required.
